Philadelphia’s highly-anticipated Rail Park project is on track to open this spring. The project is currently working to ensure the park is a welcoming place for neighborhood residents, an issue that Rail Park leaders have have been exploring at High Line Network gatherings.

Volunteers planted over a thousand trees and shrubs on a segment of the Rail Park. With planting underway, the first phase of the transformed rail line is on track to open in early 2018.

Construction on the Rail Park is shaping up nicely, according to new drone images and videos that captured the train line-turned-future-park from above.

Stark boundaries—rich vs. poor, black and brown vs. white—begin to break down as people share parks, trails, libraries, nature centers, and other gathering places.

Thanks to our warm winter months, Philly’s own version of the High Line is almost ready.

With help from an unlikely trio, an abandoned rail car that sits forlornly on North Broad is set to become the official welcome center for the Rail Park.
